Fun shooting with plenty of power

Posted by Kurt M Glover on Apr 13th 2023

I purchased this from a local dealer here in Sparta Michigan and I couldn't be happier with the performance. But a person must remember that kinetic energy is more important than having the fastest FPS. Using KI's heaviest arrows will prevent the limbs from splinting. You need to be shooting over 500 grains of weight. I swapped the factory scope with Killer Instinct's Max view MV-36 and this crossbow will put meat in the freezer. It shoots both fixed blade broadheads or mechanical equally the same. Snatch this crossbow up when you can and have some fun shooting outside where men belong.

    Better Than Expected

Posted by Kurt Glover on Apr 1st 2023

I originally purchased this as a backup crossbow to my Centerpoint 425 Patriot. But after shooting it and sighting in my Hawke XB30 Pro scope, I decided to make it my first choice. Listen up everyone- if you want to avoid your limbs from cracking, be sure to shoot over 500 grains of weight. I switched to 150 grain broadheads and the FOC is spot on. I can effectively shoot out to 70 yards with this and it's a blast to use. I bought the DSC for it but it's easy enough to use the rope cocker. Do yourself a favor a buy the crossbow!! It will keep your freezer full of fresh venison.

Premium crossbow for the money. I replaced the scope with the killer instinct lumix speedring . I use heavier pile driver bolts for accuracy and to preserve the limbs cables and string. With 125 grain tips for total 467 grain bolts. Drives tacks and is quiet.. love the setup..

    Boss 405

I bought this crossbow after reading many reviews and narrowing my choices down to three. The barnett and centerpoint bows that fell within this price range felt good but not as good as the boss did. Assembly was easy and the instruction are great. The scope which I read was the worst part of the package is actually not bad at all the clarity is great and yardage markings are pretty true to aim once dialed in correctly. The bow feels great to shoot and has awesome speed even when paired with 425g bolts. I have shot groupings at each yardage marker on the scope that are within 2 inches and thats using steady sticks and not a bench rest. Shot my hunting blades and are holding the same pattern. The noise from this bow is no different than many of the higher end bows. Overall very pleased with this bow.

    Happy with my 3rd KI

Posted by WIlliam Miskokomon on Aug 11th 2020

Last year I purchased the 380 Hero and so I decided to have a back up and purchased the 405 Boss. The warranty and customer services is top notch and Killer Instinct is always there to stand behind their products. The Boss is a little louder than my previous crossbows however the speed will make up for the loudness. This is my third Killer Instinct Crossbow and will continue to recommend and purchase Killer Instinct crossbows. The quiver is smaller than previous models and the orientation of the quiver is parallel to the string and might be a problem carrying out to the field. I wish they would give the option to mount the quiver parallel to the rail.

    What a great crossbow!

Posted by patrick smith on Apr 20th 2020

Received my killer instinct boss 405 crossbow in the mail today after assembling and looking it over this is a well made crossbow! The adjustable buttstock and fore grip makes it great for any size person to shoot it comfortably. The optics that come with the boss 405 are nice and clear and the red and blue illumination color choices that the scope have are nice and bright and will work great in low light situations. It comes with 2 options to mount your quiver, you can mount it parallel to the crossbow or the usual across underneath the limbs. The rubberized pistol grip and fore grip has a real nice comfortable non slip feel to it which I feel will be nice on those long treks into the woods, also, on the bottom of the pistol grip theres a compartment on the bottom that would work well to keep small things in like a hunting license or maybe a plastic bag with some matches and such in case you get stranded or lost. As for shooting the boss 405 it is an absolute blast to shoot!! It has a nice trigger and cocking isnt too terrible but pretty manageable (I'm 5'5" and had no issues cocking it). After shooting 3 bolts into a target 40 yds away I shot a 1.5" group and with speeds of 405fps is pretty impressive in my book and I'm very happy with my purchase and will definitely be buying another crossbow (or 2) from killer instinct
